All of the therapists at IntegratED Psychology hold advanced degrees in psychology or a related field, and are licensed to practice in the state in which they operate. They also have extensive training and experience in various forms of therapy.
To be licensed as a Psychologist in New York, an individual must hold a doctoral degree. Obtaining a doctoral degree requires a minimum of 4 years of graduate training beyond the bachelor's degree, although most students are enrolled in graduate school for 5-7 years. The doctoral degree may be a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology degree (Ph.D.), a Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.), or a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.); The American Psychological Association sets the standards for Clinical Psychology graduate programs and recognizes programs meeting these standards through an accreditation process.
In New York, 3000 hours of supervised pre-doctoral and post-doctoral psychological training must be completed before psychologists take a national test. As a Clinical Psychologists who graduated from an APA-Accredited Ph.D. program, both Dr. Hirsch and Dr. Taylor's training strongly emphasized evidenced-based treatment. This means that the treatment you or your child receives is of the highest quality and based on what has been shown to work best.
While we specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, Our therapists are trained to help clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, relationship problems, couples counseling, obsessive compulsive disorder, and specific phobias.
We are not in-network with any insurance plan (with the exception of Northwell Direct) but if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse you directly all or part of the cost of treatment, depending on your benefits. If you would like to utilize your insurance benefits to help cover the cost of treatment, we can provide a superbill or itemized bill for services. We can generate these weekly or monthly, and you will be able to generate them on our platform, My Best Practice. You will be able to submit this to your insurance company for reimbursement based on your particular plan policies. This allows for substantially increased confidentiality of your or your child's medical record.
Some insurance companies will allow for a single case agreement where they will reimburse at a higher rate for an out-of-network provider with specialized expertise (e.g., eating disorders, FBT, DBT). Please contact your insurance company directly regarding this option.
*Note: If your insurance plan informed you that Dr. Hirsch is an in-network provider, please check the address they have listed. It is likely a Northwell site. She sees a very narrow population of patients at the hospital and only during daytime hours. While the hospital accepts most insurance plans, this does not apply to sessions held in her private practice.
If you would like to find out how much your insurance company will reimburse you, I recommend you contact your carrier and ask them how much they will cover for typical services provided by psychologists (i.e., initial assessment (90791), individual psychotherapy (90834, 90837,), and family therapy (90846/90847). In determining how much you will be reimbursed, be sure to ask them the percentage of the doctor’s fees they will reimburse, if you have a deductible and/or copay, and if there is a maximum allowable amount. an answer to this item.
Please contact the Center for Bariatric Surgery Specialties at (516) 496-2752 if you are currently a bariatric patient at Syosset Hospital and would like to schedule your psychological evaluation. The first appointment is our intake, where we will try to get our best understanding of what has been going on for you and how we can help. The first session can last anywhere from 1-1.5 hours. We will ask you many questions about your current symptoms, history of the current problem, other issues you may be struggling with, and expectations you have about therapy. We will describe our treatment approaches to you.
Prior to our first session, we will have a phone consultation to make sure our practice is suitable for your needs. Once we schedule our first appointment we will send you the appropriate paperwork and questionnaires so that we can get started.
Our practice and training is based on evidenced-based care, with focus on the modalities of FBT and CBT (please see treatments section for more information). These treatments are intended to be short-term care, with expected treatment durations ranging any where from 3 months to one year. However, in our experience, each case is different. Our intention is to help you with the best care as quickly as we can, with understanding that some factors render treatment to be longer.
As well, we have had the experience that after the eating disorder has been treated, some people find benefit in continued therapy and support, which may occur at a reduced frequency. We hope to be flexible for your needs.
Our hours vary and we hope to find a time that works for you.
Please reach out to us for an initial consultation to discuss intake and session fees.
Session may be both virtual and in person. Dr. Hirsch sees clients in person and virtually. Dr. Taylor currently works virtually for all sessions.
